Madina Muslim community to undertake health Walk

Accra, April 30, GNA – The Madina West Council of Muslim Scholars (Ulamaa) have urged members of the community to join in a porposed Health Walk as a prelude of sensitizing fellow Muslims on the benefits of healthy living.

The Walk, which is scheduled for Saturday, May 2 will start at 5.30 am from the Mallam Yunu’s Mosque at Madina Zongo through Atomic Junction towards North Legon and thence through Libyan Quarters and back to Madina Zongo.

Sheikh Hussain Abdul- Rahim, an Islamic scholar announced this when preaching a sermon after a dawn (Fajir) prayer at UN- Libyan Quarters, a suburb of Madina Zongo at the week-end. He stressed the importance of exercises to the Muslim brethren which he noted is in consonance with the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

Sheikh Abdul-Rahim noted that there was the need for Muslims to pursue their religious undertakings in a healthy body and purity, adding that short walks, jogging and other exercises are cardinal to the well-being of all.

He therefore urged Muslims of all ages, men and women and the youth in the community to come out in their numbers to make sure the exercise becomes successful and a frequent undertaking by all. Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Alhaji Amadu Sorogbo, Member of Parliament for Abokobi-Madina, a number of Muslim elders as well as the District Police Commander are expected to be Special Guests of honour at the Health Walk.
