NDC members in Tema told to be united

Tema, April 14, GNA – Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Tema metropolis have been urged to bury their differences and forge ahead with a common goal to promote progress in the area. Capt Anthony Cudjoe (Rtd), Chairman of Tema West Constituency of the NDC, said petty squabbles inflamed passion and this had the tendency to deter others from joining the party. He was addressing a press conference in Tema on concerns raised by some groups in the NDC who are rejecting Mr Robert Kempes Ofosuware’s nomination as the Metropolitan Chief Executive.

The opposing group from Tema East and Kpone/Katamanso constituencies of the NDC alleged the Mr Ofosuware is facing three fraud cases in Tema and Accra thus disqualifying him for the position. Capt Cudjoe reminded them of the confidence that people had in the party by voting it into office and said any skirmishes would discourage others from returning it into power during the next election. He said President John Evens Atta Mills, in his own wisdom, nominated the 45-year-old account officer of the Electricity Company of Ghana and urged all to respect his views. Captain Cudjoe described Mr Ofosuware as the best man for the position because his contribution gave a lot of votes to the party during the 2008 election. Mr Mustapha Darko, chairman of the Tema East constituency of the party, advised against rejecting Mr Ofosuware as that would send wrong signal about the NDC and the President to the public.
