Couple assists orphans

Koforidua, April 10, GNA – A couple based in Canada has presented items including toys, books, and children’s clothes worth 2,000 dollars to the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to be distributed to orphanages and needy communities for the Easter season. The couple, Reverend and Mrs Benjamin Owusu who made the presentation on behalf of a philanthropic organization, “Families of Tomorrow,” said the items were their gift to children who live in orphanages and in deprived communities.

Mrs Ama Owusu said they were touched by the plight of the many deprived children and decided to put smiles on their faces during the season.

She said they had already done similar presentation to orphanages in the Ga West and Dangbe districts. Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, Eastern Regional Minister who received the items, said the plight of children could not be alleviated by government alone but through the efforts of the public. He thanked the couple and urged them to solicit for more items to help alleviate the plight of children who, through no fault of theirs, are lacking basic needs.
