MP for Ellembele establishes students’ education fund

Sekondi, April 3, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament for Ellembele, has established a students’ education fund for to assist brilliant but needy students to continue their education. A statement issued in Sekondi and signed by Mr Ben Kofi, his secretary said Mr Buah has decided to set aside 5,000 Ghana cedis of his share of the common fund to kick start the fund.

It said a management team including teachers, educationists and opinion leaders had been formed to oversee the fund, monitor the academic performance of beneficiaries and recommend ways of improving education in the constituency.

The statement said after a few months in Parliament, Mr Buah had realised that it would require the involvement of all stakeholders including teachers, opinion leaders and chiefs to bring about improvement in education in distressed and deprived communities in the constituency. It said, “The strategy adopted is to address the fundamental challenges confronting the brilliant but needy students and many of the youth in the area”.
