Salia ‘goes home’ at Chepuri on Saturday

Chepuri, (UWR), March 22, GNA – Burial took place of Mr. Edward Kojo Salia, Member of Parliament for Jirapa at Chepuri in the Jirapa District of the Upper West Region on Saturday after a requiem mass performed by the Catholic Bishop of Wa, Most Rev. Dr. Paul Bemile.

In a sermon, the Parish Priest of Han Parish, Mike Tanzile described the late Salia as the “little unmovable who helped to move things in his life time.” He said Salia’s life was all about sharing with people the little that he had and helping many people in the community and the region in particular and the country as a whole to improve their lots.

Father Tanzile said Salia was a hard working person in all the positions he held and urged government workers to emulate him to enhance productivity at workplaces. “There are many workers who go to work late and close earlier. Others also go and work lotto and do little, let us all go home today with a change of attitude towards increasing output at workplaces”, Father Tanzile reminded workers.

Bishop Bemile also described Salia as a person who shared all that he had with his neighbours and helped educated many people in the area and urged all to emulate him.

Alhaji Iddrisu Mahama led a government delegation to observe the funeral and burial of the late Salia and presented 500,000 Ghana cedis on behalf of the government to the bereaved family. Mr. Osei Kyere Mensah-Bonsu, Minority Leader led the NPP delegation to the funeral and also presented 500 Ghana Cedis to the bereaved family on behalf of former President John Agyekum Kufuor. Other political party executives and supporters were present. The funeral was characterized by traditional mourning activities and musketry and was witnessed by people across the country.
