Ghana Scout Association assists prisoners

Kumasi (A/R) March 19, GNA – The Ghana Scout Association (GSA), has donated materials for the production of soap, costing 6,000 Ghana Cedis, to inmates of the Central Prison in Kumasi. The materials included caustic soda, perfume, palm oil and palm kennel Oil, coconut Oil, hand gloves and a gas burner. Mr. Isaac Newton Addy, Chief Scout Commissioner, presenting the items said, the gesture formed part of activities marking the Africa Scout Day celebration, under the theme “Our Environment, Our Africa: Scouts Care”. He expressed hope that the materials would be used for the training of the inmates to enable them to acquire vocational skills before leaving the prison. Receiving the items, Superintendent Kobina Antwi of the Prison, commended the association for the donation and promised that the materials would be used for the purposes they were meant for. Members of the association planted about 1000 tree seedlings in the city including the Holy Ghost International School and undertook a clean up exercise at Wawase, a suburb of Kumasi.
