Winneba, (C/R), March 5, GNA – The immediate past chairman of the Assemblies of God Church, the Reverend John Felix Mensah, has asked Ghanaians to continue to pray fervently for peace in the nation because without peace no meaningful development could take place.
Rev. Mensah was delivering the sermon at the first inter-denominational thanksgiving service for the second semester of the University of Education, Winneba. It was organised by the university’s Chaplaincy Board on the theme, “The Power of Christian Unity”.
Rev. Mensah stressed that the word of God must take root in the African soil if the continent was to develop. He charged Christians to exhibit Christ-like attitudes and be at peace with their neighbours. He condemned Christians who look down on others, explaining that it is a bad spirit and advised them to pray to God to be filled with the true spirit.
The deputy registrar of the University, Pastor Rex Abedi-Boafo, deplored indiscipline among students in tertiary institutions and said it was impacting negatively on their academic work. He warned students who practice occultism and lesbianism on campus to desist from the practice. Pastor Abedi-Boafo advised students to dress decently and walk in the newness of faith so as to reap the blessings from God.
Earlier in a welcoming address, the General Overseer of the Chaplaincy Board, Rev. Fr. (Dr) Anthony Afful Broni thanked God for the peace in the country. He said the last elections would have been disastrous but for Ghanaians God-fearing Ghanaians who constantly seek peace. Rev. Afful-Broni asked Christians to pray against fatal road accidents, which are on the increase.
