Ghana News Agency retirees elect officers

Accra, March 5, GNA – Retired Staff of the Ghana News Agency at its annual general meeting on Wednesday, elected Mr Edward Ameyibor as its President with Mr G. Dabietey-Paresen, as Vice President. Other Officers elected were Mr Joseph Ashon-Cudjiw, General Secretary, Mrs Priscilla Enninful, Treasurer, and Madam Mercy Gloria Kwakye, Chaplain.

Mr K. B. Wood and Mr J. K. Dadzie were elected executive members. Mr K. M. Abadoo, the immediate past President who inducted the new officers into office called for co-operation to enable the new executives work hard toensure the growth of the association and the enhancement of GNA’s image. He appealed to government to support GNA with financial and other resources to improve its effectiveness. Government should also review the conditions of workers of the agency, which was about the poorest in the sector. He explained that the GNA is the largest news gathering medium with offices in all the districts and therefore plays a critical role in national development.

Mr Ameyibor thanked members for the confidence reposed in the officers, saying that, the task ahead is onerous and with the co-operation of members, a lot could be achieved
