Ghana needs proper time management to speed up development

Winneba (C/R), March 5, GNA – The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Professor Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw has stressed the need for effective time management to speed the nation’s quest for accelerated development. Prof Asabere-Ameyaw said this at the launching of an 85-page book entitled “The Principles and Practice of Time Management” at the University.

The book was authored by Rev Father (Dr) Anthony Afful-Broni, a Senior Lecturer and Director at the Centre for Educational and Policy Studies of UEW. The book is about time management as an effective tool for achieving organizational and personal goals. Prof Asabere-Ameyaw said “human beings cannot change to suit their ways but must change their ways to conform to time available”.

Prof Asabere-Ameyaw said that one could not achieve his goals in life without being time conscious and urged all Ghanaians to observe time as a concept to humanity.

The former Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Jophus Anamuah-Mensah said poor time management does not allow people to perceive opportunities. He said poor attitudes such as procrastination, lateness, super-mentality, phone charts, electronic mails and internet abuse among others, were the setbacks to productivity and time management. Prof Anamuah-Mensah advised people to be in control of their time in a fast changing global economy in order to cope with the challenges. He commended Rev Fr (Dr) Afful-Broni for producing a result-oriented book to enhance productivity in the country.

The book was dedicated to the Archbishop of Cape Coast and Chairman of the National Peace Council, Peter Cardinal Appiah Turkson.
