Minister pledges to work with chiefs

Ho, March 5, GNA – Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister on Thursday pledged his readiness to work with the chiefs in the region towards its accelerated development. Mr Amenowode made the pledge when he paid a courtesy call on the Asogli Traditional Council to officially introduce himself to the Council on Thursday.

He said the government would not waver in fulfilling its promises to the region and counted on the support of all stakeholders. “The Government will fulfil its promises to the region on roads and the establishment of a state university among others, therefore our chiefs should support the initiative and offer land for the projects,” Mr Amenowode implored.

He promised that resources in the region would be distributed equally to make the region a “better” place in the next four years. Togbe Kawaku Ayim V, Paramount Chief of Ziavi Traditional Area on behalf of the Agbogbomefia welcomed the Regional Minister and urged him to work on the challenges confronting education in the region, so as to make it one of the best in the country.

He also asked the government to resource the regional hospital very well for it function as a referral hospital.

Togbe Ayim urged the government to take another look at the decentralization process, especially the unit committee concept, and resource them well to function effectively.
