NDC youth wing hail appointment of Regional Minister

Tamale, March 4, GNA – The Saha Youth Association (SYA), a wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Tamale, has congratulated Mr Stephen Sumani Nayini on his appointment as the Northern Regional Minister.

The youth described Mr Nayini’s appointment as commendable and timely since it happened at a time that the region was beset with numerous challenges such as insecurity, poverty, tribalism and chieftaincy conflicts, which needed urgent attention. A statement signed in Tamale on Tuesday by Mr Osman Ibrahim Rashid, Secretary to the Association, urged the minister to bring his vast experience to bear to help resolve the pockets of conflicts in the region.

It appealed to the minister to collaborate effectively with the security apparatus in the region to deal with the Dagbon chieftaincy problems.

The statement said the minister must work assiduously to lobby development partners to construct roads that link district capitals in order to open up business activities.

It mentioned specifically the tarring of the Fufulso-Damango-Sawla road, Walewale-Gambaga-Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo roads and the Yendi-Bimbila-Wulensi roads.

The statement called for the need to empower women in the region to become economically viable and to consider the commercialization of agriculture with special initiatives on cotton, soya beans, sheanuts and rice.
