A chief donates items to institutions in Saltpond

Saltpond, Feb. 16, GNA – The Nkosuohene (Development Chief) of the Nimfa Division of the Nkusukum Traditional Area, Nana Ato Kwamena Asokomfo, a British, has donated items worth about 1,500 pounds to some institutions in Saltpond. The items including books, sports war, religious materials and surgical equipment, were presented to the Saltpond Municipal Hospital, Catholic Boys and Girls Primary and Junior High schools, Lower Town Municipal Assembly Primary and Junior High schools. Nana Baah VII, Chief of Saltpond Lower Town and Nimfahene of the Division, presented the items on behalf of the donor and commended him for his support for health and education in the area. He said books for establishment of a library at the Lower Town, and a nursery school built for the town were some of the contributions made by the chief.

Nana Asokomfo also plans to establish an Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Training Centre for the area. Rev Fr John Fynn, Parish Priest of the Saltpond Catholic Church, thanked the chief and appealed to Ghanaians living abroad and friends of the country to donate school materials for improvement of education. Mr Fred Badu-Mensah, Headmaster of the Lower Town Municipal Junior High School on behalf of the beneficiary institutions thanked the donor. At the hospital Mr Hayford Frempong, the Administrator, who received the items, said they had come at an opportune time when the authorities were making efforts to raise money for their purchase. He appealed for a support for the hospital.
