Ghana Water Company Limited Revenue Drops By 40%

The Ghana Water Company Limited says its expected revenue for last year will drop by an estimated 40 per cent.

The Managing Director of the company, Charles Adjoin, blamed the projected shortfall on the steep rise in the value of the dollar, which pushed the 18 billion cedis voted for chemicals to 40 billion cedis.

The company also spent about 23 billion cedis on energy alone.

Mr Adjei said the company could not increase tariffs to make for the deficit since it is beyond their jurisdiction.

Fixing of tariffs is the sole responsibility of the Public Regulatory Commission. He noted that while the company is doing its best to maximise its revenue collection., it is unable to achieve a 100 per cent compliance.
