Adukrom (E/R), Jan. 16, GNA – Mr Dan Botwe, Member of Parliament for Okere, has commended the chiefs and people of the area for voting for him in last year’s parliamentary election. He said the people voted for him to enable him lead them to change the fortunes of the area and promised to fulfil all his campaign promises to develop the area.
Mr Botwe said this at Adukrom at a start of a week’s tour of the constituency to thank the people for voting for him. Accompanied by constituency executive Mr Botwe visited Abenawia, Asi Nkwanta, Sanfo, Asasekokoo, Amanyi Nkwanta, and Nkyenoa where he addressed community leaders and the people.
At Amanyi Nkwanta, Mr Botwe and his entourage were welcomed by supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) amidst singing of party songs.
Addressing them Mr Botwe said the electorate in the constituency again showed its affection, loyalty and commitment to the NPP by turning out in their numbers to deliver more than 12,000 votes for him and the party as against 6,000 votes for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He reminded them of his promise to be an MP for all in the constituency and said he would not discriminate against anybody on the basis of political, ethnic, or religious background and urged the people to learn from that example and live together as one people with a common destiny. Mr Botwe said he would concentrate largely on education, agriculture and health and would ensure that no child was denied education because of financial difficulties.
He also assured the people that since a majority of them are farmers, he would ensure that they have ready market for their produce. Mr Botwe said he would ensure that health facilities were provided for the various communities so that situations where people travel for long distances to access health care become a thing of the past. He said he make sure everybody in the area joined the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme. Mr Botwe debunked rumours that because the NPP did not win power, he would not be able to bring development to the area and urged the people to rally behind him.
He appealed to the youth of the area not to allow themselves to be used by any politician or political party to cause confusion now that the elections are over. “We should live together as one people in order to get our fair share of the national cake”.
