President appoints Chief of Staff

Accra, Jan. 13, GNA – President John Evans Atta Mills has appointed Mr John Henry Martey Newman, Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), as his Chief of Staff.

Mr Newman’s appointment takes immediate effect, a release from the Office of the President signed by Mr Mahama Ayariga, Presidential Spokesperson, said on Tuesday.

The new Chief of Staff holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, a Bachelor of Law (LLB) Degree and is also a Barrister at Law (LB). He worked with the Ministry of Finance from 1969 to 1973 and was a staff of the COCOBOD from 1975 to 1992. Mr Newman later became the CEO of the COCOBOD from 1996 to early 2001.
