Court bonds fisherman for threatening to kill father

Sekondi, Jan. 8, GNA – A Sekondi District Magistrate Court on Thursday bonded George Larfo, a 22-year old fisherman at Anlo-Beach near Shama to be of good behaviour for two years for threatening to kill his father.

The accused, who pleaded guilty, would serve six months imprisonment in hard labour in default of the bond. Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Richard Boatey said on November 13 last year, the accused put on the trousers of his younger brother and went to the beach. He said the brother questioned him when he saw him wearing his trousers but the accused became offended and assaulted the brother. ASP Boatey said the father, Kelvas Boir Lokpo, who is also a fisherman, went to the rescue of the younger brother but the accused assaulted him too. He said after assaulting the father, the accused took a cutlass and threatened to kill him. ASP Boatey said a witness in the case helped to overpower the accused who was later handed over to the police. 8 Jan. 09
