72 year-old man murder suspect pleads for bail

Tarkwa (W/R), Jan. 7, GNA – A 72 year-old, Kwabena Ackaah, who made his 79th appearance at a Tarkwa circuit court, on Wednesday pleaded with the court to grant him bail since his health was deteriorating daily. Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo, the presiding judge, in response tempered justice with mercy and granted GH¢1,000 bail to Ackaah saying because Ackaah’s case was a murder one. Mr Diawuo granted the bail and said he would wait to see whether any family member would show up to sign on his behalf. In 2004, the court granted him GH¢2,000 with one surety to be justified but no family member or friend came forward to sign the necessary documents. Ackaah was remanded in prison custody for an alleged murder he committed at Sefwi Asawinso in the Western Region. He has since not heard from any family member, friend or loved one.
