China congratulates Mills, Mahama

Accra, Jan. 6, GNA – The President of China, Mr. Hu Jintao has sent separate messages to president-elect John Evans Atta Mills while the Chinese Vice President, Mr Xi Jinping has sent another message to Vice President-elect John Dramani Mahama on their electoral victory. In a letter to President-elect Mills, Mr Hu wrote: “On the Occasion of Yor Excellency’s election to the high office of the President of the republic of Ghana, I wish, on behalf of the Government and People of China and in my own name, to extend to Your Excellency our sincere congratulations and best wishes.”

In the letter to Vice-President-elect Mahama, the Chinese Vice President wrote: “China and Ghana have enjoyed a profound traditional friendship. In the course of developing our respective countries, our two peoples have always supported each other and treated each other on an equal footing.”

Mr Xi said he was ready, in joint efforts with Mr Mahama, to further promote the friendly relations and cooperation between China and Ghana. 6 Jan. 09
