NPP-USA Congratulates Mills

Ghana’s Electoral Commission has rendered its final call and it has gone to Professor John Evens Atta Mills. Certainly we wished that the referee had on Saturday January 3, 2009 raised the hand of the NPP Presidential Candidate – Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. It was our ardent expectation. But be it fate or otherwise that was not to be. Therefore whether by a margin of 40,000 votes or one, we congratulate the declared victor from NDC Professor Atta Mills as the President of Ghana come January 7, 2009.

We stand ready to hold him to his acceptance speech where he echoed Barack Obama’s one America with the pledge: “The election is over and there is only one Ghana, there is no NDC Ghana and NPP Ghana. I renew my pledge that I will be President of all Ghana.”

We join our flag-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo in congratulating and wishing Ghana’s President –elect Mills well and pray for the successful and united Ghana that we all cherish, dream about and will continue to work for.

Kofi A. Boateng

Chairman, NPP-USA New York- January 4, 2009
