National Security: Government has not declared state of emergency

Accra, Dec. 30, GNA – Dr. Sam G. Amoo, National Security Co-ordinator on Tuesday denied that government intended to declare a state of emergency.

A release signed by Dr Amoo said the attention of the National Security Council Secretariat had been drawn to the activities of certain individuals and groups, who were spreading false information to the effect that the government was to declare a state of emergency.

It said: “The National Security Secretariat wishes to assure all Ghanaians, foreigners and the world at large that the government has not considered declaring a state of emergency as it is being claimed by the originators of the false information. “On the contrary, it is the aim of the persons behind the propagation of the false information to create panic, anxiety and other apprehensions among the citizenry.”

The National Security Council assured Ghanaians that the

government would not shirk its responsibilities and would continue to protect life and property during this period.
