Tsatsu Goes Back To Nsawam

TSATSU TSIKATA, the jailed former GNPC Chief Executive is expected to be escorted back to the Nsawam Medium Prison where he was serving a 5-year jail term.

This follows his recovery from an asthmatic attack which kept him on admission at the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for more than three weeks.

Doctors treating him say he has now fully recovered and would be discharged any time soon.

Mr. Tsikata suffered a severe asthmatic attack and was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital a few weeks ago and has since been on admission.

Doctors have however disputed reports that Mr. Tsikata had passed away.

The former GNPC boss was handed a 5-year jail term a few months ago by an Accra Fast Track High Court for causing financial loss to the state.

An appeal filed by his lawyers soon after the sentence, was quashed by the Supreme Court.

Another appeal has since been filed and the case is expected to be heard soon.
