Parents asked to stop using children for farming activities

Essam (E/R), Dec. 12, GNA – An assembly member has appealed to parents to stop withdrawing their children from school for farming activities. Mr. Reginald Sackey, assembly member for Essam Electoral Area in the Birim Central Municipality, also urged teachers to live up to their responsibilities and expose parents who withdraw their children from school. He was interacting with some parents after a meeting of the Parent/Teacher Association of the Essam Junior High School on Thursday. Mr. Sackey said now that farming activities were beginning, there was the tendency for parents to once again remove their children from school to help them on their farms until the farming activities were over. “I am appealing to all parents to allow their children to remain in school throughout the season.”
