Nungua, Dec 7, GNA – The swift intervention of the Nungua District police Rapid Deployment Force (RDF) prevented a possible outbreak of violence at two polling stations at the Krowor Constituency. The two are Kingsway and Methodist JHS polling stations, where voters were still in a long queue as at 13:30pm
Confusion broke out among electoral officials and the electorate who accused the officials of deliberately delaying the exercise. The police and fire service personnel stationed at the polling station had a hectic time controlling the enraged voters and therefore had to call in the RDF to calm the tension. Electoral officials and party agents at the Kingsway polling station said while some voters jumped the queue, others who already had cast their vote refused to leave the station leading to the creation of tension.
Meanwhile the electorate on their part said some of the officials were inexperience accounting for the delay of the process as at 13:30pm when GNA got to the polling station. Only 483 out of 1313 registered voters had cast their votes. A total of 668 out of 21 66 had cast their votes at the Methodist JHS polling station. Meanwhile voting at other polling stations visited in the constituency had been smooth. Mr Joseph Ayikoi Otoo NPP, Nii Oakley Quaye, NDC and Emmanuel Attuquaye Botchway for the CPP are contesting the Krowor Constituency seat. 7 Dec. 08
