Bompeh Senior High gets 80,000 dollars ICT centre.

Takoradi, Dec. 6, GNA – Mr. Steve Fulgham, Managing Director of Schlumberger Companies, said the Schlumberger Excellence in Educational Development (SEED) is one of the global initiatives for Senior High School students.

He said SEED is a volunteer-based programme that connects students to the world of science through the use of modern Information Communication and Technology Skills (ICTs). Mr. Fulgham said this at the inauguration of an 80,000- dollar ICT centre for the Bompeh Senior High School at Takoradi on Thursday. The centre has 20 desktop computers, a printer, scanner, LCD projector, 40 port-wired local area network, broadband internet facility with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) providing the room and other infrastructure.

He said a SEED centre provides free two-year internet access, donation of state of the art computers, air-condition units and a science based website for both teachers and students. Mr. Fulgham said so far over 200 SEED centres have been inaugurated with 14 of them in Africa and Bompeh is the 15th school to benefit from the project. Mrs Aba Smith, Headmistress of the school, said the school which started with 39 students now has a student population of 1,100.
