VCC calls on Ghanaians to exhibit passion for peace

Kumasi, Nov.26, GNA – The Voltarians Coordinating Council (VCC), a Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO) has implored stakeholders in the nation’s development to endeavour to take steps to exhibit love, peace, respect and tolerance ahead of the December 7 polls. “Praying for peace is okay, however, acting for peace should be the ultimate and foremost priority”, Torgbuiga Mawufeame Fugah, President of the VCC said.

He was speaking in Kumasi at a special day of prayer ahead of the celebration of Amuza, a festival of the Chiefs and people of Volta descent in Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions. The festival, which was instituted four years ago aimed to serve as a platform for reconciliation and a forum for renewal of brotherhood. The VCC President tasked Ghanaians to take a cue from the successful manner in which the African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2008 tournament was hosted by Ghana, noting that just as it was possible for people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds to have come together to compete in a healthy manner, so should political parties and supporters do same. Mama Dokua Asigble, Queen of the Tefle Traditional Area in the Volta region, stressed the need for members of the VCC to bury their differences and unite to foster progress of the Council for the benefit of all Voltarians.
