“They Are All Liars” – Samia

Samia Nkrumah, the Convention People’s Party’s (CPP), Parliamentary Candidate for the Jomoro constituency in the Western Region, has fired back at her political opponents, describing them as “liars” for suggesting that, she is receiving funding from the ruling New patriotic Party (NPP). The soft-spoken lady again rebutted claims that, she rarely speaks of Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, her Presidential Candidate, on campaign platforms, thus giving credence to the allusion that, she is receiving some monetary support from the NPP, hence her difficulty in campaigning for Dr Nduom.

Hear her: “these are all baseless, I’ve never campaigned for anyone except Dr Nduom. It’s impossible not to do so…these are pure lies…they are all liars…”

These rebuttals come in the wake of consistent allegations, mainly from the opposition National Democratic Congress, (NDC), led by its incumbent MP for the seat under contention, Mr Lee Ocran, suggesting among others that, the government was supporting her expensive campaign.

But Samia Nkrumah, speaking in an interview and sounding the least perturbed, sees these accusations not only as signs of weakness on the part of her opponents, but also pointing to the fact that, she is making significant in-roads in that constituency.

“These baseless allegations are only signs that, I am gaining popularity in the area, and this has shaken them up…” she adds confidently. Although she admits that such “smear” campaigns, if not refuted, can dent her reputation, she is in no doubt that, the firm support she enjoys from the people of Jomoro, would not wane.

She emphasized that, apart from her own resources, many “illustrious sons and daughters of the land”, most of who are staunch Nkrumahists, are solidly behind her, providing the necessary logistics and monetary demands of running such as campaign.
