German company introduces poultry chemical products in Dormaa

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Nov. 16 GNA – Berg and Schmidt, a German agro-chemical company, has introduced its products in Dormaa-Ahenkro, a hub of the poultry industry in Ghana.

At a symposium jointly organised by Lam Agency and Agrovet for poultry farmers in Dormaa-Ahenkro, a director of the company, Mr Ibrahim Kadireh noted that lipids and enzymes in their right quantities were essential for healthy animal nutrition and profitable stock farming. He explained that enzymes were proteins that acted as catalysts with the unique ability to make both the build-up and breakdown of organic substances quickly without consuming large amounts of energy. He said Bergazym, a key feed enzymes developed by the company had the potential to attack the soluble pentosans and promoted timely digestion in monogastric animals.

Mr Kadireh said apart from promoting quick digestion in the animals, the enzymes also enhanced more uniform weight development and reduced the risk of infection among the stock. Touching on its benefits to layers in the poultry industry, the Director explained that enzymes were key to achieving maximum egg yield, better classification of eggs and production of fewer dirty and soft-shelled eggs. Mr Kadireh urged poultry farmers to adopt the Bergazym and many other products which the company intended to introduce to them soon so as to produce healthy animals and maximized profit. Mr Edward Badu, Dormaa Municipal Director of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, advised the farmers to accept and adopt the products as they were necessary to complement the agricultural development policies of the nation.

He urged the Dormaa Poultry Farmers Association to use the organisation as a platform to educate and promote modern methods of poultry production to enhance profit and to sustain the industry. Mr Braimah Musah, a renowned poultry farmer said poultry farmers in other parts of the country had commended Berg and Schmidt and the Bergazym products for their potency for the industry. He recommended the product as the one sure means of adding value to what farmers already have in the industry. 16 Nov. 08
