NDC government to establish tomato factory at Ziope

Ziope (V/R), Nov. 9, GNA – Prof John Atta Mills, presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Sunday said an NDC government would build a tomatoes factory at Ziope near Kpetoe to provide ready market for large scale tomato farmers in the area. He said with their agricultural background and the NDC’s policy of modernizing agriculture through mechanized farming such a factory would provide employment and improve the living standards of the people. Prof Mills gave the undertaking at Ziope during his campaign tour of some parts of the Volta Region.

He reiterated the commitment of the NDC to equitable distribution of national resources and urged the people to vote massively for the party in the December general election.

Prof Mills commended the people of the region for keeping faith with the NDC even in opposition “I assure you of your share of the national cake.”

“I have already promised the region a state university with a campus in Hohoe to assure you that you will not be left out in the next NDC government,” he said. Addressing a mammoth rally in the Ho central market, Prof Mills urged the people not to be taken in by the propaganda of the New Patriotic Party.

He commended teachers and security men for their loyalty to the nation and said his government would institute a “professional allowance” for all teachers and conditions that would make the police enjoy their work.

He also paid a courtesy call on Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli State, and congratulated him on his election as the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs.
