Seventeen farmers rewarded in Kwaebibirem

Subi (E/R), Nov. 8, GNA – Seventeen farmers, a second cycle school and an agriculture extension agent were among recipients of awards on Friday at the Kwaebibirem District celebration of the National Farmers’ Day at Subi near Kade.

Mr Yaw Agyei Tenkorang, a 48-year old farmer from Bomso, was adjudged the district over-all best farmer. For his prize, he took home one and a half packet of roofing sheets, a bicycle, knapsack sprayer, a full piece of wax print, a pair of Wellington boots, two machetes and a certificate. The Salvation Army Senior High school at Akyem Wenchi received a prize for being the best second cycle agricultural institution in the district.

Mr Kwabena Sarfo of Abaam, 38, was adjudged the best physically-challenged farmer. He cultivates oil palm, oranges, plantain, cassava and mushroom. Mr Michael Gyapong of Kade was adjudged the best agricultural extension agent. Prizes were also given to respective best farmers in garden eggs, citrus, maize, rice, okro, cassava, oil palm, cocoa, goats, cattle, grass-cutter, rabbits, snail, and fish.
