Anansu (Ash) Work on the construction of six classrooms, an office, library and a staff common room by the people of Anansu in the Atwima district has come to a standstill due to litigation over the construction of the project. The situation, if not rpt not contained immediately, would force pupils in the town to study under very deplorable structures when schools re-open for the third term of the academic year. Narrating the circumstances leading to the litigation to newsmen at Anansu, Mr S. K. Yamoah, assemblyman for the area, said sometime last year, OPD Timbers based in Kumasi and operating in the area, donated seven million cedis to the people in response to their appeal for assistance towards the construction of a school. According to Mr Yamoah, while the construction was in progress, Nana Appiah, Krontihene of Nkawie-Kuma who claims to be a custodian of the area, summoned the chiefs, assembly member and opinion leaders of Anansu to the sub-traditional council at Nkawie-Kuma to explain why they did not send part of the money donated by the company to rehabilitate his palace. Mr Yamoah said the community has so far spent over 860,000 cedis in respect of transportation from Anansu to Nkawie-Kuma over the case. He said following the frequent adjournments of the case, the youth of Anansu have resolved not rpt not to offer any more communal labour, an action which has brought the project to a standstill. Mr Yamoah therefore appealed to the Atwima district assembly and the government to institute an immediate enquiry into the matter.
