Road safety commission organises quiz for schools

Kumasi, Nov. 4, GNA – As part of the National Road Safety Commission’s annual week celebration, it has organized a quiz competition for five selected Junior High Schools (JHS) in the Kumasi metropolis. The competition was to campaign against roads accidents by educating the students on road user regulations in other to reduce road accidents, especially involving children. State Boys JHS emerged winner of the competition. The second and third positions were taken by the Yaa Achiaa JHS and Bantama Methodist JHS, whilst St. Peters and Asem Boys took the fourth and fifth positions respectively. They all took home attractive prizes.

State Boys JHS, Yaa Achiaa Girls JHS, Asem Boys JHS, St. Peters Roman Catholic JHS and the Bantama Methodist JHS from different sub-metros in the Kumasi metropolis engaged in the fierce competition with the host school; State Boys emerging as the winner. The pupils were asked to identify road signs, answer questions about the various documents a driver must possess and directions as to how a pedestrian should observe before, during and after crossing the road among other important guidelines. Masters Kwaku Adu Boffour a form two student and Solomon Zobil as well as Alex Okyere both in form three who led their school to victory in an interview with GNA, congratulated the organizers of the programme for given them the opportunity to gain more insight into road safety regulations.

Mr Obiri Yeboah, Headmaster of State Boys JHS called for more of such exercises, saying that would help children observe road safety regulations.
