Communities call for redesign of a common feeder road

Dokrochewa (E/R), Oct. 22, GNA – Ten farming and fishing communities linked to a common feeder road in the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District of the Eastern Region, have appealed to government to redesign the road. The communities including Tetekasum, Godziase, Kwame Kyere and Oboango said the undulating and slippery nature of the feeder road made it difficult for the people to commute to near towns and villages. Mr Matthew Narh, an opinion leader in the area, speaking on behalf of the communities on Wednesday told the Ghana News Agency that people of Suhum, Dokrochewa were angry about the deplorable nature of the road, which had made it very difficult for them to reach other communities particularly whenever the rain came.

Mr Narh said several appeals to the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District Assembly to redesign the road have fallen on deaf ears. According to him, the road was designed by the people themselves using hand tools, such as hoes, spades and cutlasses to enable vehicles ply the area. He said since then no major work had been done on the road except the usual grading but without drains.” Mr Narh appealed to the District Assembly and the Department of Feeder Roads to come to aid of the communities.
