Nkoranza (B/A), Oct. 20, GNA – The reverend Emmanuel Kojo Osei, Minister in charge of the Presbyterian Church at Nkoranza, has urged the Electoral Commission to be transparent in its activities during the December elections to maintain the trust and confidence of the people. He called on politicians to be decent and avoid insults on other parties during their electioneering campaigns to ensure peaceful and violent free elections.
Rev. Osei, who is also the chairman of the Nkoranza Local Council of Churches, was briefing the Ghana News Agency on the council’s plan of organising a special inter-denominational prayer for a successful poll. He said a week long prayer and fasting from October 28 to November 5 would be held at Nkoranza and appealed to the Electoral Commission to work without fear or favour to win God’s blessings for the nation. “As the voice of the people is the voice of God, politicians and for that matter persons seeking political power must not use foul means to achieve their aims as God knows best and will choose the leaders for us”, Rev. Osei added.
He called on the youth to be disciplined and to guard against acts of hooliganism to enable the country to continue enjoying the peace and stability.
The Reverend Minister urged religious bodies to continue praying for the nation and tolerate one another for peace and accelerated national development.
Rev Osei exhorted traditional authorities, Assembly Members and Unit Committees to educate the people to eschew negative attitudes and practices that could mar the success of the general election.
