New Ejisuhene swears oath to Asantehene

Kumasi, Oct.15, GNA – The newly enstooled paramount chief of Ejisu Traditional Area, Nana Oguakro Afrane Okese IV, 54, has sworn the Great Oath of allegiance to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in Kumasi. The ceremony, which took place at the Manhyia Palace on Monday, was witnessed by a large crowd, including royals, paramount and divisional chiefs in Kumasi.
Nana Oguakro Afrane Okese IV succeeds Nana Aboagye Agyei II, who ruled for 15 years and died on April 14 this year, at the age of 80, after a protracted illness.
Before he was allowed to draw the “Mpomponsuo” sword to swear to the Asantehene, Nana Okese, a private businessman based in London and known in private life as Mr Kwadwo Frimpong, the various chiefs took turns to advise him to exhibit a high sense of integrity and morality as well as serve the people of Asanteman. The Asantehene asked the new chief, a direct descent of Nana Yaa Asantewaa, Queen Mother of Ejisu, to lead a good life and live with the people in peace and harmony. He said as a member of the Asona family, he should be cautious in handling disputes and conflicts in the area and utilize the available human and material resource that abound in the area, to support the development of the people.
Among the other chiefs who sworn the oath in support of the Paramount Chief were, his Linguists, Nana Bobie Ansah, Bonwirehene, Nana Okyere Baffour, Mawerehene/Donuasohene, Nana Opoku Agyeman Brefo, Bepoayaasehene, Nana Asiedu Kotwi, Ejisu Kontrehene, and Nana Boadu Ababio, Ejisu Gyasehene.
