Mataheko Pentecost win Anniversary Games

Accra, Oct. 12, GNA- Mataheko branch of the Church of Pentecost defeated Mamprobi Presbyterian Church of Ghana 5-4 on penalties, to win the 20th Anniversary soccer Fun Games of the Mataheko Presbyterian Church of Ghana, held at the Accra Academy School Park on Saturday. The game, which was full of action, saw the champions making incursions into their opponents goal area in the first 10 minutes but failed to utilise the chances created.

The tide of the game changed in favour of Mamprobi in the second half but tried as they did, they could not score till full time. In a Cooking competition held as part of the anniversary, Korle Gonno came first with 24 points, Kamara Victory Church took the second position with 20 points, while South Odokor placed third with 19 points.

Mr Kwaku Addo, Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, called on Christians to take active interest in sports to enable them to remain healthy at all times.

He also asked them to exercise their franchise in the December 7 Polls which falls on Sunday and asked them to comport themselves in a peaceful manner. Mr Addo also called on all Ghanaians to ensure that peace prevails before, during and after the elections. 12 Oct. 08
