Six classroom block nursery commissioned at Essikadu

Essikadu (w/r), Oct. 7, GNA – A six-classroom block valued at GH¢60,000 has been opened at Essikadu near Sekondi. The building, which started in 1992, would serve as classrooms for the cr=E8che of the Saint Mark’s Anglican Church. Mr John R. Abban, the project committee chairman, said the project was initiated by Mr J.S. Acquah and Madam Agnes Insaidoo, a former head of the school.

Mr Abban said the project had received a lot of support from members of the parish and other Anglicans living outside Ghana. He said some voluntary groups also supported to make the dream a reality, adding that, “without their support this classroom block would have taken several years to complete”. Mrs Linda Foster, who solicited support for the project and has been visiting on a yearly basis said the project was like “a seed planted to give, hope and inspiration to generations that would come after us and we must all ensure that this seed does not die”. She appealed to all Ghanaians to initiate and support similar projects to create opportunities for children, whose parents cannot afford to send them to school. Mrs Efua Ghartey, wife of the Member of Parliament for Essikadu, Mr Joe Ghartey, thanked the various individuals and organisations for their numerous supports and urged parents to make the education of their children a priority.

She said children must not be deprived of education, irrespective of the circumstances and urged parents to take advantage of the capitation grant and enrol their wards.
