Dr Agyemang expelled from NPP

Effiduase, Oct 1, GNA – The New Juaben North Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expelled Dr Twum Agyemang from the party for declaring to contest as independent candidate for the constituency in the 2008 Elections.

A letter signed Mr Emmanuel Oduro-Mensah, the Constituency chairman released to the GNA, requested Dr Twum to hand over party membership card to the constituency with immediate effect. It asked Dr Twum not to have relationship with the party’s organizational structures and to desist from presenting himself as a member of the NPP.

The statement said a resolution adopted at the party’s conference at Sekondi recommended that any party member who would decide to run as an independent candidate at general elections to be contested by the party should be expelled.

It said although Dr Agyemang had not filed nomination papers at the Electoral Commission as at the time of writing the letter, there was an indication that he intended to contest as independent candidate in the parliamentary elections.
