Farmer remand for sexually assaulting his daughter

Akim Swedru (E/R), Sept. 27, GNA – Seth Mantey, a farmer at Ayirebi near Akim Swedru who sneaked into his daughter’s room in the night and sexually assaulted her, has been remanded in police custody by the Akim Swedru Circuit Court in the Eastern Region.

Mantey pleaded not guilty to defilement. He will re-appear on October 7.

Briefing the court, presided over by Mr. Edward Apenkwah, Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah explained that the 16-year-old victim, is a student and that the victim is Mantey’s daughter. Inspector Appiah stated that, the accused went sneaked into his daughter’s room in the night when she was asleep, pounced on her and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her. According to Inspector Appiah, after the incident, Mantey purchased drugs for his daughter to avoid any pregnancy, but the victim reported the ordeal in which she went through to her mother, who also made a report to the Akim Oda office of DOVVSU. 27 Sept. 08
