Beposo bans political activities in the area

Beposo(Ash), Sept. 25, GNA – The Traditional Council at Beposo in the Sekyere Central District in the Ashanti Region has with immediate effect, banned all political activities in the area, until the Electoral Commission (EC) officially comes out with the names of Presidential and Parliamentary aspirants contesting the December general elections, to ensure peace in the Area.

In a message to the public through gong-gong last Sunday at Beposo, the Council noted with concern the insulting behaviour and misconduct of some supporters of Mr Asafu-Adjei, a director at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), an independent parliamentary aspirant and Mr Kwame Osei Prempeh, Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice who is the NPP parliamentary candidate.

The Traditional Council met Mr Haruna Oppong Boateng, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Central and Mr Kwasi Owusu Kodua, NPP Chairman at Nsuta Kwamang-Beposo Constituency behind closed doors and prevailed upon them to resolve their differences, think of the development agenda in the area and stop attacking each other on radio. Nana Boamah Kwabi IV, the Omanhene of the Traditional Area assured all political party leaders and their supporters of their democratic rights to visit the area with their campaign messages when the time comes, but cautioned that the people in the area too have their democratic rights to enjoy their peace and freedom without any interruption. Mr Asafo-Adjei, who filed his nomination papers to contest the NPP parliamentary primaries in the Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo Constituency was disqualified by the party regional and national executives, but decided to go independent. Already, his posters could be found in all the towns and villages in the Constituency.
