Kundum Festival ends at Axim

Axim (W/R), Sept. 18, GNA – The people of Axim in the Western Region Saturday rounded off this year’s Kundum Festival with a peace concert.

The concert was aimed of sensitising the youth for them to avail themselves as agents of peace before, during and after the December 7, 2008 general elections.

The concert which featured Gospel musicians, Christiana Love and hiplife musicians Tic Tac was organised and financed by Miss Catherine Abelema Afeku, New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Evalue Dwira constituency.

Kundum is an annual festival celebrated by the Nzema people to mark the end of prolong hunger as well usher in the season for abundance harvest of food and fish.

Miss Afeku, in a pre-concert address admonished the youth who constitute the mainstay of the nation to desist from activities that could “dog” them into violence or crisis.

She stressed that individuals cannot break the law but can break themselves against the law since the 1992 constitution guaranteed nothing but ordered freedom.

Freedom under the constitution, she noted can therefore not be used as a licence to spread false news likely to cause fear and alarm to the public.

Miss Afeku provided 20 pieces of clothes for the traditional dancers.
