Ghanaians urged to forgive one another

Abetifi (E/R), Sept. 16, GNA – The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, (PCG), Right Reverend Dr.Yaw Frimpong-Manso, has called on Ghanaians to forgive and forget all wrong committed against each other to promote peace, unity and reconciliation in the country.

He noted that if political opponents failed to forgive and forget the wrongs committed against each other during this years’ electioneering campaign, there could be no peace in the society. Right Rev. Frimpong-Manso, who is also the Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana, made the call at the consecration of 38 catechists at the Abetifi Ramseyer Presbyterian church, after their training at the Ramseyer training centre (RCC) at Abetifi.

He said if former President Jerry John Rawlings and President John Agyekum Kuffour forgave and forgot the wrongs against each other, Ghanaians would emulate them and also forgive their neighbours. The moderator said forgiveness was the only way to reconcile with each other and heal the wounds and ensure good relationship.

He advised the Catechists to co-operate with the district and local pastors at their various stations to preach peace, truth and forgiveness for the congregation to reconcile, as Joseph did to his brothers, who sold him after 22 years in captivity.

Rev Frimpong Manso commended the PCG and the Kwahu Presbytery for their assistance to the catechists during their studies and urged them to put their trust in God to turn their fortunes into blessing. The out going Director of the RTC, Rev. Amo Akunor said the centre offers training for counselors, service leaders, lay preachers and Presbyters of the various churches in the country. 16 Sept. 08
