Two cable thieves arrested in Axim

Axim (W/R), September 15, GNA – Two persons who stole quantities of electrical cables belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have been arrested by the Axim Police. They are Mr Samuel Anamang and Mr Evans Adjetey, both natives of Tandan.

Briefing the GNA on Saturday at Axim, the Nzema-East Municipal Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dan Ohene-Djan said on August 25 this year, at about 0700 hours, the Assemblyman of Tandan, Mr Cosmos Kutu, met the culprits cutting the cables, on the compound of the Day Care Centre of the town. The Police Commander said Mr Kutu raised an alarm and with the help of people within the vicinity, the culprits were arrested. However he was not able to give out the cost of the cables. ASP Ohene-Djan said, upon interrogation, the culprits told the police that they took the cables because they had been abandoned for the past four years after the electrification project in the area. He said the two would be put before court for prosecution whiles investigations into the matter continued.
