Council of State concerned about Tamale violence

Accra, Sept. 4, GNA – The Council of State on Thursday said it has learnt with shock of the recent happenings on the political landscape, especially the destruction of precious lives and properties in the Tamale metropolis and the Gushiegu District in the Northern Region. A statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr Sam Akurang Wiafe, Public Relations Officer, extended its condolences to the affected families and appealed to all political parties to let peace, political tolerance and rule of law prevail.

“Ghana is serving as an oasis of peace and stability in the sub-region and nothing should be done to dent that enviable image in the eyes of the international community,” it said. The Council called on all peace-loving people to support and cooperate with the security agencies to ensure peaceful, free and fair campaigns and the subsequent elections in December.
