Eight communities in Amansie East to get electricity soon

Kumasi, Aug. 27, GNA – Eight communities in the Amansie East Municipality, are benefiting from an electrification project, which is nearing completion.

The project, funded by the government with communal labour, would benefit people of Asokore, Edwenase, Subriso, Kokotro, Aboaso, Dotom, Koniyaw and Gyasikrom.

Messrs Twumasi Ankrah and Yaw Amankwah, spokespersons for the communities, who told newsmen in Kumasi on Tuesday, denied speculations that the project was an initiative of the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Kofi Adusei Poku.

They said it was the results of several appeals the communities made to President Kufuor.

The spokespersons thanked the President and assured him of their support to the NPP government.

They said they would vote massively for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, for victory in the presidential election to enable him continue the good works of President Kufuor.

Meanwhile, the spokespersons said, they would vote against the NPP parliamentary candidate, because as an incumbent MP in the area, he had done nothing concrete for them.

They said the MP had not used his MP Common Fund to support the communities with development projects, having enjoyed close to eight years reign in parliament.
