Atwedie gas explosion leaves 10 severely injured

Atwedie (Ash), Aug 25, GNA – A family of six, including a pregnant woman, sustained severe burns when a tanker transporting gas to Kumasi last Friday crashed into their house wall at Atwedie, near Juaso in the Asante-Akim South District.

The tanker had collided with a sedan before crashing into the walls of the victim’s house and bursting into flames. The two vehicles were severely burnt while properties running into several thousands of cedis were destroyed in the house. The tanker driver and his assistant escaped unhurt while four persons in the sedan sustained injuries.

Police Sergeant Manaseh Obimpeh of the Kantanso Police Station confirmed the accident to the Ghana News Agency, saying it happened around 1700 hours.
