NCCE holds forum for stakeholders

Nkoranza (B/A), August 22, GNA – The Nkoranza District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organized a day’s forum for about 25 people with the objective of encouraging them to get involved in a campaign to promote tolerance among the people to ensure peace before, during and after the December poll.

The forum was attended by reverend ministers, security agencies, the media, educationists and executives of the various political parties in the district.

Mr. Michael Amponsah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Deputy Director of the NCCE, appealed to religious leaders to use the pulpit to preach political tolerance and advised them not to associate themselves with any political party since that would put their members into factions and affect the development of their ministries.

He appealed to heads of departments and institutions not to turn their workplaces into political forums and to engage their members in political debates.

Mr. Amponsah called on political leaders to educate their members and supporters to be disciplined and guard against the politics of insults and the use of provocative statements against their opponents. Mr. James Kwabena Appiah-Awuah, Nkoranza South District Chief Executive, said a district electoral security committee had been set up to help in maintaining peace at the district level during the election period.

He urged Ghanaians not to panic about the forthcoming election, saying “the success story of the country as regards maturity in politics would be repeated in December.”
