Elmina, Aug. 13, GNA – The Central Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr Samuel Tettey, on Tuesday assured eligible voters who been have registered and were yet to take their photographs that a date will soon be announced for such persons to do so. He made this known when he visited some of the registration centres in Cape Coast, Elmina, Moree and Abura Dunkwa townships.

Mr Tettey, who was accompanied by Mr Ebenezer Kofi Hagan, the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) District Electoral Officer said, the additional period which was yet to be decided, would soon be announced by the Commission. He further said the EC would also make sure that all eligible voters were captured in the registration exercise and provided with voter ID cards.

At the Market Square Gardens registration centre at Elmina, Mr Paul Arhin, the Registration Officer, said the exercise had been smooth and that only one person had been registered as at 1021 hours, on Tuesday, adding that, a total of 537 had registered since the exercises began on July 31.

The registration Officer at the Ayensudo and Ampenyi centres also in the KEEA District was of the view that the exercise should not have been extended but rather another date set aside for those who have not taken their pictures to do so. A total of 551 had so far registered at the two centres. At the Pedu M.A. Primary School registration centre, in Cape Coast, Mr Kobina Appiah, Registration Officer said, even though a total of 801 people had registered, 137 of them are yet to have their photographs taken.
