President’s trips seek to support national dev’t – MCE

Adako-Jachie (Ash), Aug. 06, GNA – Mr Yaw Amankwa Afrifa, Ejisu Juaben Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) said President John Agyekum Kufour’s trips abroad were not for luxury but to seek support for the nation’s development.

He enumerated some of the benefits derived from such trips as the grants for the construction of the Bui Dam, presidential palace, the Mallam Atta -Yamoransa road, Millennium Challenge Accounts and the cancellation of the nation’s debt.

Speaking during this year’s Pre-School Week celebration in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality at Adako Jachie, he urged those criticising the trips to consider the benefits that they brought.

Mr Afrifa attributed the current economic gains and the peace prevailing in the country to the prudent economic management practices by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and called for the retention of the party to continue the good work.

He said the huge investment made by the government in the education sector was a clear manifestation of its interest in the sector and urged parents to complement government’s efforts by providing the needs of their wards.

Madam Grace Adom, Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Pre-School Co-ordinator said the Early Child Care Development Centres(ECCDC) played an important role at the foundation stage of the nation’s future leaders. She commended schools in the Tikrom Circuit for scoring 100 per cent in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and thanked the chiefs and other stakeholders for their role towards the development of education in the area.

Madam Agnes Okyere, Municipal Director of Education called on parents, teachers, religious groups and society in general to contribute their quota towards the development of education in the country. She urged parents to provide their children with good food in the morning before leaving for school and appealed to the Parent Teacher Associations to support the provision of logistics and other educational materials to enhance teaching and learning.
