Committee set up for funeral of Ala Adjetey

Accra, Aug. 1, GNA – A committee has been set up to oversee the planning of a befitting funeral for former Speaker, Mr Peter Ala Adjetey, who died about three weeks ago. Mr. Larry Adjetey, son of the late Speaker, told the press in Parliament on Friday that the late Speaker was a lawyer, politician and had many other parts, and therefore a lot of things had to be considered including the legal and parliamentary calendar to fix a date for the burial. Mr Adjetey was briefing the press after a family delegation, including members the La and Abiriw Traditional Councils, called on Mr Ebenezer Sekyi Hughes, Speaker of Parliament and the leadership to officially inform the House of the death of the former speaker. The late speaker, a native of La in Accra, was also the Akyeampehene of Abiriw in the Eastern Region. Mr Jones Kugblenu, Director of Public Affairs at Parliament, told the press that the planning committee for the funeral was made up of family members, staff of Parliament and Members of Parliament.
