Bole (N/R), July 10, GNA – Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing is winning support in the Northern Region for the single slot for the running-mate to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Some supporters of the party openly told Nana Akufo-Addo at separate durbars in the Bole-Bamboi District on Tuesday that Boniface was their preferred choice.
This was when the flagbearer made whistle stops on his way to the Upper West region to begin a 22-day tour of the three Northern Regions. At all the places that Nana Akufo-Addo stopped, the mere introduction of Alhaji Boniface received shouts from the people like “Vice” and “No Boniface, no vice president.” Alhaji Boniface is part of the seven member high profile entourage of Nana Akufo-Addo’s visit. At the palace of Nana Kwaku Dapaah II, the Paramount chief of the Moo Traditional Area in Bamboi, supporters mobbed Alhaji Boniface and sung praises in his honour in the presence of Nana Akufo-Addo, who is expected to name his running-mate next month.
Nana Kwaku Dapaah II, appealed to Nana Akufo-Addo to consider choosing his running-mate from the Northern Sector, preferably Northern Region and a Muslim for the party to win more of the Zongo votes. The situation was not different at Bole where supporters nearly marred Nana Akufo-Addo’s interaction with the Bolewura, Gbedesi Seidu Amankwa when they constantly shouted, “Boniface for vice President, no Boniface no vice President and Boni oo Boni.”
At Sawla in the Sawla constituency, while Nana Akufo-Addo and his entourage were paying courtesies to the chief and his elders, supporters thronged the Sawla-Wa highway and chanted, “Boniface nie, Nana nie, No Boniface, no Nana” and “Nana and Boniface big victory for NPP.” One other personality who gained popularity and received massive applause when introduced by Nana Akufo-Addo was Mr Alan Kyeremanteng (Alan Cash), runner up to Nana Akufo-Addo in the last December NPP National Delegates’ Congress and member of Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign team.
Other members in his entourage are Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, Northern Regional Minister, Mr Osafo Marfo and Mr Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, former Ministers of State and Ms Gloria Akuffo and Alhaji Moctar Bamba.
